Zurich, Switzerland, 18 September 2025 - The World Leagues Association (WLA) organized last Tuesday, 16 September 2025, a dedicated video conference to showcase the latest developments in referee body camera technology.
This initiative follows the decision of the IFAB to extend the scope of body camera trials to all professional leagues, opening the door to shaping what could become a new global broadcasting standard. The introduction of body cameras, which allow live footage to be streamed from the referee’s point of view, represents a significant innovation in football broadcasting. This technology enhances the way the game is experienced, bringing a closer connection between referees, fans, and technology.
During the session, three companies whose systems have already been tested by FIFA presented their solutions to member leagues. Each showcased how their technology can be integrated into live match production.
The event attracted around 100 participants from professional leagues worldwide, reflecting a strong appetite to explore these innovations.
The World Leagues Association will continue to encourage dialogue and exchanges to facilitate the introduction of new technologies in football.
